SEATTLE, WA — RAM® Mounts, a global leader in rugged mounting systems and powered enterprise docking solutions, introduced its new Qi2 wireless charger, built for people who push their gear to the limit. One of the first IP67-rated waterproof chargers available, it was designed for customers who demand reliability while navigating off-road trails, operating heavy machinery, or working in unpredictable outdoor conditions. What Makes RAM®’s Wireless Charger Stand Out?
The wireless charger market is populated with options, however RAM®’s Qi2 charger provides a level of confidence that others do not: waterproofing backed by an IP67 rating. For anyone who doesn’t moonlight as an "engineer", here’s what that actually means and why it matters.
The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) created Ingress Protection (IP) ratings to standardize how products withstand dust and water. Each rating has two numbers:
-
The first digit (0–6) measures protection against solids
6 = completely dust-tight
-
The second digit (0–9) measures protection against liquids
7 = resistant to temporary immersion in water under standardized conditions
For RAM®’s charger, IP67 translates to:
Zero dust ingress
Protection against water penetration when submerged temporarily
In practical terms: if you’re working in mud, rain, snow, or splash-heavy environments, this wireless charger is built to keep performing alongside your water-resistant phone.

Qi2: What It Means and Why It Matters
Qi2 certification is the next generation of the global wireless charging standard established by the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC). The original Qi standard launched in 2010 to ensure chargers were safe, efficient, and interoperable across brands. In 2023, the WPC advanced that foundation with Qi2, introducing faster 15W charging and the introduction of the “Magnetic Power Profile”, (magnetic alignment technology) first seen in the Apple ecosystem with MagSafe®. Apple joined the WPC with the goal of sharing technology and standards to broaden the user acceptance with a harmonized standard that the industry could agree upon. This magnetic attachment ensures optimum placement between the device and wireless charger, improving energy transfer and making charging more efficient and user-friendly.
For users, that means a familiar, MagSafe®-style snap-to-charge experience that is now available across more devices and use cases, including rugged environments where precision placement matters.
To learn more about Qi, Qi2, and the Qi2 25W standard, refer to the Wireless Power Consortium. Wireless Charger Integration with RAM® Phone Holders
RAM® has supported magnetic wireless chargers since Apple released MagSafe®, building mounts that allow customers to secure the charging puck in a rugged, reliable way. The new RAM® Qi2 Wireless Charger is intentionally designed to match the size and dimensions of Apple’s 25W MagSafe® charger, making integration easy and giving users an immediate ecosystem of compatible mounting solutions.
Those who want a clean magnetic attachment inside enclosed vehicle cabins can pair the charger with the RAM® Ball Adapter for 15W Wireless Chargers.
