Overview

The RAP-401-202U consists of the large Tough-Claw™ base, double socket arm and round base adapter. The RAM Tough-Claw™ is the perfect mounting base for quick and easy tool-less installation and removal on round, square, odd shaped rails and bars. The Tough-Claw™ can be clamped on rails from 1" - 2.2" outer diameter. The round base adapter contains the industry standard universal AMPS hole pattern, which will connect to a large variety of RAM Mount and third party cradles. The mount is designed with a RAM 1.5" diameter patented rubber ball and socket system that has adjustment points at both ends of the double socket arm; this allowing for almost infinite adjustment and perfect viewing angles.

  • Is this a good choice for oddly shaped or oblong rails and handles?

    Yes, this mount is excellent for oddly shaped attachment points.

  • does this come with the hardware to mount the ball to a laptop tray?

    RAP-401-202U does not come with hardware. The hardware is sent out with the laptop tray RAM-234-3

  • Will this unit stay in place on an off-road ride with a 10” tablet? I wouldn’t want it spinning on the roll bar due to the weight and jarring of the road

    The Tough Claw base would be a great choice for that application.

  • Will this support the weight of the 12.9 tablet with waterproof case on the upper roll bar above the windshield ??

    Yes, the RAP-401-202U will support up to 3lbs in a dynamic environment which would accommodate an ipad Pro 12.9" tablet in a waterproof case.
