What screws are used to attach the RAM Mount to the gimbal bracket?
Typically, the gimbal bracket included with your fishfinder will also come with mounting screws that should connect to the RAM® mounting plate. As these mounts are universal and are for many different applications, the necessary hardware needed for each application will vary. For marine applications, RAM® recommends stainless steel hardware to prevent corrosion.

If I don't want to use the mounting plate and drill into my console, can I use a ram clamp to mount to the aluminum rail of my pontoon boat (with Helix 7) or will the clamp not be adequate to hold ?
Yes, you can do that with parts RAM-202U-24, RAP-404U and RAM-201U.

I already have the arm and boat side pieces; can I just buy the Helix 7 attachment? I cannot find a 2" x 4" rectangular base listed on the site as a standalone purchase.
Yes, the ball base compatible with the Humminbird Helix 7 is available separately. The RAM-202U-24 is the 2" x 4" adapter plate with a C size, 1.5" diameter ball that is included as part of the RAM-202-24-354-TRA1U kit.

Will this fit a Helix 9? If not what mount do you suggest for a Helix 9 for a kayak?
Yes, this mount should be able to support the Helix 9 on a kayak. Due to the larger weight this mount can become questionable on bass boats and rough environments, but if it is on a kayak and only used in calm environments then this will be safe to use for the 9.
