We’ve paired a B-size 1” rubber ball base that accommodates bars 3/8" to 5/8” in diameter with a B-size standard length arm and the dynamic X-Grip^® for larger phones. Sizing inserts are included to provide a snug fit and offer additional protection for the rail. The mount utilizes nylon-insert lock nuts to prevent loosening in high vibration environments. I noticed my phone can rotate back and forth when it is in the X-Grip. Is that normal?

That type of movement is totally normal for the X-Grip. When being used for less rugged applications the small amount of movement allowed is not an issue, but sometimes when traveling at higher speeds or in bumpy environments it can be. If that is causing problems in your application, it is best to use the safety tether which will prevent that type of movement by creating tension between the phone and backplate.
