It's always a special treat to see everyday heroes in action and support the work they do for their communities. So, when our friends at Dog Is My CoPilot let us know they'd be stopping into Seattle on a transport flight, the RAM® team hopped in the car and met them on the tarmac!
Dog Is My CoPilot is a non-profit that transports at-risk animals from overcrowded shelters to adoption centers where new families are waiting to bring them home. Over 24,000 animals have been rescued via their transport flights and they have more than 150 shelter and rescue organization partners across the entire country.
Co-founded by Peter E. Rork, M.D., an orthopedic surgeon and lifelong pilot, and Judy Zimet in 2012, Dog Is My CoPilot started out with a Cessna 206H that could transport 20-30 pets in a single trip. As their non-profit grew, DIMC soon purchased a Cessna 208B Grand Caravan that was once a 12-passenger plane and can carry up to 251 animals in crates.
With such an undertaking of flying more than 100 animals across the United States on an aircraft, the technology and and tools on board need to be secure and reliable. In the cockpit, DIMC uses an iPad paired with the RAM® Tab-Tite™ with RAM® Twist-Lock™ Dual Suction Cup Base.
