How RAM® Mounts Helped Werner Enterprises Modernize Driver Workflows

Werner Enterprises has been an industry leader in transportation and logistics since 1956. More than six decades later, Werner has now become one of the five largest truckload carriers in the United States. With innovation being a defining part of their culture, Werner set out to modernize the in-cab tools drivers utilize daily while on the road.

For over a decade, Werner used an outdated system that made daily workflows inefficient for drivers. Fixed devices were difficult to interact with and poorly suited for driver workflows. Audio prompts were often hard to hear over road noise, power connections were prone to wear, and the hardware offered little flexibility for drivers to take devices out of the cab for vehicle inspections and documentation.

Werner needed a mounting solution that could securely hold a rugged tablet, deliver consistent power, amplify critical audio, and adjust easily to different driver preferences, without adding complexity or downtime.

Werner partnered with Samsung for their rugged Galaxy Tab Active3 tablets, Platform Science for its EDGE Connect software platform, and RAM® Mounts for the in-vehicle docking and mounting solution that made daily use practical and reliable.

Werner deployed the RAM® EZ-Roll’r™ Powered Dock with integrated dual speakers to securely mount Samsung Galaxy Tab Active3 tablets inside the cab. The dock delivers power through integrated pogo-pin charging, keeping devices powered through long shifts. Its form-fit design ensures tablets stay locked in place in high-vibration environments, while RAM® ball-and-socket mounting components allow drivers to fine-tune positioning for comfort and visibility. Our dock is designed to be future-proof, allowing Werner to save on costs and downtime if devices are upgraded down the line.

Integrated dual speakers address one of the most common in-cab pain points: audio clarity. Navigation prompts, alerts, and communications are amplified for easy listening over engine and road noise, helping drivers stay on approved truck routes and remain focused without distraction. When drivers need to work outside the truck, the tablet quickly undocks without interrupting their workflow.
