Alside transitioned their fleet to Samsung XCover7 Pros paired with the RAM® EZ-Roll’r™, reducing costs, improving durability, and simplifying daily workflows.
The Challenge
Alside operates a nationwide network of supply centers, relying on its fleet to keep deliveries and daily logistics running smoothly. Over time, their tablet-based setup became costly, frequently damaged during daily use, and misaligned with driver workflows.
They also needed a more practical, scalable solution that could support individual driver communication. Charging added further inefficiencies, with drivers managing loose cables, plugging and unplugging devices, and removing them at the end of each shift.
To move forward, Alside required a solution that could:
- Reduce hardware and maintenance costs
- Improve durability in the field
- Eliminate cable management and manual charging
- Enable individual driver communication
- Better align with real-world workflows
The Solution
Alside transitioned from tablets to the Samsung XCover7 Pro, gaining a more compact, durable device with built-in cellular capabilities that better supports individual driver communication. Based on previous success with RAM® Mounts, the team returned for a solution with integrated charging that directly addressed ongoing challenges.
They deployed the RAM® EZ-Roll’r™ Dock & Dashboard Mount across their fleet, creating a secure in-vehicle system that keeps devices mounted and continuously charged without needing to manually plug and unplug charging cables each day. Drivers simply dock their phones, reducing daily handling and wear from repeated cable connections.
Within this setup, drivers use Field Warrior for GPS tracking, delivery workflows, and inspections, along with RyderGyde for check-ins, maintenance tracking, and communication. Devices are locked down to approved apps, ensuring consistent and focused use throughout the workday.
The Results
The transition delivered immediate and measurable results across Alside’s fleet, including cost savings of well over $100,000 by moving from tablets to a smartphone-based solution with RAM® Mounts.
Drivers no longer manage charging cables or remove devices at the end of each shift. Devices stay mounted, powered, and ready to go, streamlining daily operations. The switch to smartphones also improved usability and durability, with devices that are easier to handle and less prone to damage.
RAM® Mounts helped Alside by:
Eliminating charging friction with a fully integrated docking solution that keeps devices secure and continuously powered
Reducing device damage by minimizing handling and removing wear from repeated plugging and unplugging
Streamlining daily workflows with a consistent, ready-to-use in-vehicle setup
Improving usability with a compact, driver-friendly device better suited for the field
