Frequently Asked Questions

To apply for exemption on our site, you'll need to submit your application and be approved by our team before taxes can be removed from your order. We are unable to offer retroactive refunds for any orders placed prior to receiving exemption approval, so it is important to complete these steps before placing your order. To start, create an account on our website or log in if you already have an account. Once logged in, click on "Submit Certificates" via the red button at the bottom of your account page and follow the prompts to submit your application. Please be sure to complete the following: Select "Blanket Purchase" when available, as the system will automatically reject any exemption applications listed for a single purchase. "Purchaser Name" must be the name of the business or agency and may not state the name of the person purchasing on behalf of the organization. "Seller Name" must state "RAM MOUNTS USA LLC" "Seller Address" must state "8410 Dallas Avenue South, Seattle, WA 98108" Once you have applied, we will be notified when your account is created and when your tax-exempt certificate is uploaded. At that time, we will mark your account as tax-exempt and notify you when it's ready to accept tax-exempt orders.

RAM Mounts strives to process and ship your orders as quickly as possible. Due to the custom nature of our products and fluctuating order volume we cannot guarantee immediate shipping. Therefore, please allow up to 3 business days +/- 2 days of order processing time regardless of shipping method. Orders are shipped 8-5 Pacific Time, Monday-Friday excluding major US holidays from Seattle, Washington. Orders that are shipped to countries outside of the U.S. may be subject to import taxes, customs duties and brokerage fees levied by the destination country ("Import Fees") which are the responsibility of the purchaser. ** Please note that if the purchaser refuses to pay these Import Fees, the product will be considered abandoned at the destination. In such cases, no refund will be issued for the abandoned product.

While we don't have a one-size-fits-all definition for "Heavy Duty", you can usually identify it by use case. Heavy Duty use could be when the mount is in an off-road vehicle, on a boat in extremely choppy waters, or in a plane prone to high turbulence. Essentially, it is for use cases where the mount is, more often than not, being moved, jostled, heavily vibrated, or having or constant force applied to it. Standard duty use would align with most other mounting situations that do not fall into the heavy duty category. When mounting in a heavy duty environtment, you likely will want to use our larger ball and arm sizes (like C and D sizes) to allow for more stability. In standard duty use scenarios, B size is what we typically recommend.

Since we do not know the material, environment, or thickness of the mounting surface, we are unable to provide hardware with many of our drill-down solutions. For all mounts that require assembly or have specific installation requirements, we will provide all the needed hardware to assemble and install the mount. If needed, the list of included hardware for each product is shown on the product page within the "Specs" tab.

There are a variety of search methods to help you find mounts that are compatible with your device or vehicle. First, you can use the "Compatibility" button on each product page to see if your device or vehicle is shown in the list. For devices, you can use the measurement allowances shown on the "Specs" tab to determine if your device fits within the required ranges. When browsing product categories, you can use the filter fields on the left of the page to refine the search to match your device or vehicle. Finally, you can use our "Build a Mount" tool to allow us to do the heavy lifting for you. If you are unsure, or need any additional assistance, you can contact our support team with the make and model of your device and/or vehicle for an expert recommendation.

Typically, yes. When on the product page, you can use the "Kit Components" button at the top of the page to break apart the mount into it's purchasable pieces. If you are unsure, you can reach out to our support team for additional assistance.

Depending on the application, our mounts should have little to no movement when in use. For our phone holders, you have the option to purchase a vibration damper to aid in any expected vibration that may be caused by the vehicle or mounting surface. As long as the device or item being mounted are within the recommended weight range for both the holder and the ball/arm being used, you should not experience any movement beyond what is normal for the application.

Yes, RAM Mounts are made to be used in rugged and consistent outdoor applications. Our mounts are perfect for the "set it and forget it" style of use and have been used anywhere from game cameras on trees to holding cameras and sensors on major highways (and everything in between). For long term use in the outdoors, we would recommend our marine grade aluminum mounts for the most durability.

Our GDS and RAM Electronic mounts do not currently have an IP rating and are not recommended to be used in rainy or wet environments. Our GDS products are best suited for rugged (dust, dirt and debris) indoor evnvironments, while our RAM electrical mounts do best in a dry indoor setting with minimal debris exposure.
