The RAP-B-138-UN7U consists of a 2.5" diameter round base featuring the universal AMPS hole pattern, medium length composite double socket arm, and the popular spring-loaded RAM® X-Grip® phone holder. The RAM® X-Grip® features an 'X' design that expands and contracts to provide a perfect fit for your device – even if it's in a case. I noticed my phone can be rotated back and forth about 15 degrees when it is in the X-Grip. Is that normal?
That type of movement is totally normal for the X-Grip. When being used for less rugged applications the small amount of movement allowed is not an issue, but sometimes when traveling at higher speeds or in bumpy environments it can be. If that is causing problems in your application, it is best to use the safety tether which will prevent that type of movement by creating tension between the phone and backplate.
